Contribute and Volunteer

The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Greater Kansas City is a non-profit, non-partisan organization. Your donation helps us advocate for the interests of funeral consumers like yourself. All our board members and officers are volunteers who have a passion for educating you as well as saving you frustration and money. All donations go directly into continuing our mission, which is to educate and support people in making informed decisions about death-related services, including funerals and burial

A wonderful way to make a meaningful gift is a memorial contribution in honor of a beloved family member or friend. With your gift you’ll be on the mailing list for an annual subscription to our informative newsletters. You’ll also receive our latest survey of funeral costs at all the funeral service providers in the greater Kansas City area.

The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Greater Kansas City is a completely volunteer-based nonprofit organization. Perhaps you are thinking about sharing your time and talents with us. It is remarkable to note that volunteers have sustained FCA-GKC for more than 50 years. Rapidly changing conditions in the funeral industry tell us how important it is to remain vibrant at this time.

If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities listed below, contact us at or 816-561-6322. We will provide all the orientation you need to feel comfortable and welcome.

Outreach. Identify and staff senior fairs and other community events. Make presentations to community and faith-based organizations. Help us ensure that target audiences are aware of our services. This includes social workers, hospice workers, clergy, senior groups, funeral directors, and cemetery operators. Identify other opportunities to inform people about FCA.

Newsletter publishing. Identify topics to be covered in the chapter’s twice-yearly newsletter; write and submit articles; provide photos and other illustrations; help with mailing preparation.

Funeral Price Survey. Help to acquire, compile, and analyze the data from general price lists provided by local funeral providers.

Database management. Our mailing lists, email lists, and other excel databases require continued updating.
